It was a weeklong programme held from Wednesday, 16th October 2019, to Tuesday, 22nd October 2019, in the School Hall. The annual Book Week was expanded and aptly named Diction-in-English/Literary Week. Several in-house programmes were conducted in the build-up to the grand finale: the Library Day programme, on Tuesday, 22nd October 2019.
The entire week featured exciting programmes which created awareness about the importance of literacy, reading culture, correct pronunciation of words, use of right expressions, refined behaviour, poem recitation, visiting libraries regularly and developing the ability to review books amongst our students. The theme was ‘Soar High on the Wings of Imagination’. Many schools were invited to witness the occasion on the day of the grand finale and benefit from it as a renowned facilitator, Mr Miracle Ihuoma, explored all the mysteries surrounding the library and its effective use. He went a step further to talk about imbibing the reading culture, theatre production, writing poems and the acquisition of knowledge for perfect fulfilment. The Chief Speaker admonished the students to have confidence and work hard for a brighter future. Five invited schools, White Dove and Canterbury plus three of our sister schools, CHSI, CCI and CHSLK were in attendance and participated effectively in the programme. Other invited schools sent in their apologies as they were already on their mid-term break. Students from Chrisland High School VGC in their bespoke yellow T-shirts excellently showcased various forms of displays, talk shows, short dramas, dances, rap music, recitation of poems and other presentations. The event ended on a great note as all present left the hall with a feeling of euphoria and fulfilment for a day well spent.
