FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL

General Napoleon Bonaparte famously said “Success belongs to the most dedicated”.  That is exactly what we strive for here at Chrisland High: VGC. Combining this statement with our school motto, to “Show forth the Light”; we strive to develop and improve the unique abilities of each and every student to enable them to adequately become successful citizens not only to Nigeria but global citizens.

Chrisland High: VGC opened its doors in 2006 with 14 students and today the school boasts with a student population of 378.  This achievement is only possible because of the efforts of a highly motivated Staff.  They have realised the importance of raising the academic excellence and performance of the students.

To be the best and to stay the best, takes hard and dedicated work. Tasks are carefully planned and a pro-active management team understands and implements:

A quality of life-long learning

Academics

Chrisland High school VGC runs Nigerian/ British curriculum, concurrently.  Our assessment is based on the continuous assessment, assignment, project work and terminal examinations. Placement to classes is by a system of streaming which allows for healthy competition among students.  It also gives opportunity for differential teaching and early academic intervention programmes for students with barriers to learning.  In the same way, talented students are given extension work to further develop them.

We prepare students to write local and international examinations. Local examinations which our students write, include; Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for junior school students while senior students write National Examination Council (NECO), West Africa School Certificate Examination (WASSE).

International examinations conducted, include; Cambridge Check Point for junior school, International General Certificate for Secondary Education (IGCSE), Schorlastic Aptitude Test (SAT ), TOEFL and others.

Years seven, eight, ten and eleven are writing second summary test (Continuous assessment).  Extension classes that are aimed at preparing years 9 and 12 classes for external (terminal) examinations are ongoing. The extension programmes run from 3 pm to 4 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 9:00 am to 2:39 pm on specific Saturdays.
