Our Philosophy

Chrisland believes in the basic dignity of the human self, therefore we do not discriminate against any ideology or religion. We welcome all. However, our only demand is that individuals recognise that there are beliefs and creeds other than their own and respect them. Mutual respect breeds co-operation and advancement.

The school provides uniforms for pupils. Children must come to school neatly dressed in clean uniform, white socks and black shoes (not patent leather) or clean P.E. uniforms, white socks and canvas.

The school uniform is obtainable in the school store.

Girls should have their hair neatly braided or plaited. Only moderate adornments for the hair which match the school uniform are allowed. (Yellow and green). However, hair extensions of any sort is not permitted.

Admission

All children to be admitted shall have their application forms completed by their parents/guardians. Children admitted are usually between the ages of two and five for the Pre-school and Reception classes while children between ages five and six are for the primary classes. The selection process depends largely on scores obtained from I.Q. Tests and other types of tests and interviews administered by the school. Offer of admission is however on a first come, first served basis.

Application forms and prospectuses are obtained from the school office on payment of the application fee. Parents are advised to fill the application forms correctly. This is to ensure that proper record of information about the applicant is obtained. Those who pass the tests and interviews consequently get an offer of admission and are usually required to pay an admission fee.

Fees

Details of fees and levies can be obtained from the accounts department of the school. All fees and charges are paid through bank drafts. The fees for each term should be paid on or before the first day of the term. A considerable period of notice is usually given before there is an increase in fees which is subject to review from time to time.

The School Year

The school year is divided into three terms running from September to July. Holidays are usually given at Christmas and Easter. All federal holidays are also observed by the school. Parents are given notices of these and other terminal holidays.

Chrisland Nursery and Primary school, Opebi can be aptly described as the mother school within the Chrisland Educational Organisation. Established in 1979, the school took off at Ladipo Oluwole street, the same site which is presently occupied by another branch of the school. Our beginning was modest, but auspicious enough, with twenty pupils and eight members of staff. Today, to the glory of God, Chrisland story is akin to the mighty oak tree which has grown from a little seed, as we enjoy a nationwide reputation as a global institution of excellence.

PTA

Chrisland encourages a close interaction between parents and teachers...that is why there is a vibrant Parents Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA has a general working constitution. Elections are held once a year at the beginning of a session. All levies are paid through a PTA account opened for the purpose.

PTA meetings are held once a term. Such meetings serve as forum for parents and guardians to reach an understanding on issues of mutual benefit to the children and the schools. Apart from these meetings, open days are observed once a term to enable parents to discuss their children’s progress with the school.

A brief enunciation of parents’ responsibilities to the school are:

Parents are requested to attend ceremonies such as concerts, sports and prize giving days, to cheer their children.

Open days are to be attended by parents in the interest of their children.

Please note that only parents and guardians (not their representatives) are allowed to come. They are also the only ones permitted to collect their children/wards’ report booklets.

WITHDRAWALS

A full term’s notice in writing should be given to the school in the situation of plans to withdraw any pupil from the school. Non-compliance with this will warrant the payment of a full terms fees in lieu of notice. School leaving or transfer certificate will be issued on the condition that;

The student has attended the school for at least one year.

All fees in respect of the child have been paid.

Due notice of withdrawal has been given or appropriate fees paid in lieu of notice.

A stipulated reservation fee is payable if a pupil has a genuine reason for being absent for a period of one term. No refund of fees shall be made by the school if a child is suspended or advised to withdraw.

Please note that once a pupil has commenced a term, fees for that term cannot be refunded.

DISCIPLINE

We believe that good behavior is essential if children are to learn well, make good progress and make the most of the opportunities we can offer. We also believe that children should know rights from wrong and that good behaviour once established is likely to last a lifetime. Therefore appropriate corrective measures are administered as the school deems fit in cases of wrong doing.
